May 2020 Adoption Round Up!

We have made it through May, one of the most difficult times with our stay in place routines. Through it all, shelters have emptied out and many pets have finally found their homes. But some dogs wound up back in the shelter. One of them was ours. The ACC called us when a dog was surrendered wearing wearing one of our Waggytail foster tags on his collar! Our adoption contract stipulates that if an adopter is unable to keep their dog for any reason, it should be offered back to us . Luckily he had that old tag on!

The story continues...we had a patient foster who was waiting for another dog who had just been adopted. We called the foster and said "we're sorry to do this so suddenly and we know you're disappointed you didn't get to adopt the other dog, but we have a great one, who is in the shelter and is coming out right now- and needs a place to sleep tonight, will you open your heart and your home and foster within the hour?" And, you know the rest. She said yes, and it was immediate love. And this beautiful dog is now HOME.

This is the essence of rescue.
